Do you feel like you should be happier?
Do you feel like life is just passing you by day after day?
Do you feel like you have no control?
Did you feel like any of that stuff before you read that and internally asked yourself? Probably not, but because you just read those words, you immediately started feeling those emotions. It’s the same as me telling you to think of a kangaroo! I bet you just did..
This is how marketing works. When someone tells you that 1 million people in America have depression or ADD or something else with no legitimate test, you start to question if YOU have that too. Silly, right?
This is the environment that we all live in today thanks to the news, movies, TV shows and social media. It’s hitting us from every angle! It’s constant. And it’s this constant negativity that has shaped our reality and thoughts. The norm has become to complain and just “make it through the day” and get to the weekend. What kind of life is that, and who’s the dummy that decided to follow the first person that acted like this???
It makes no sense. Most people are intentionally making their lives miserable for the simple fact that this behavior is what they know. I mean, if it ain’t broke…
But it is broke, you idiot!! It’s obviously broken behavior or else the vast majority would be super rich and ultra successful! Do you get it? It’s black and white – do what the majority does and be miserable, or do what the minority does and be happier. That’s obviously exaggerating, but you get what I’m trying to display here.
In order to be successful and happier, you have to break the mold. You have to become Neo from The Matrix and be reborn. You have to proactively make the effort everyday to transform yourself into something different than what you’ve been (unless you’re already a billionaire, then you’re solid). Unfortunately this does take constant effort and attention, which is why most people haven’t gone through this transformation. Most people are lazy. You’re reading this because you’re not most people!
Here’s how you break the mold:
Stop complaining – Instead say and think something positive every time you catch yourself being negative
Stop making excuses – Take ownership of everything that happens in your life, whether you could have actually controlled a situation or not. It doesn’t matter, just assume ownership and ask yourself “How could I have prevented that?”
Stop watching the news/TV/etc. – These are designed to attract viewers and show you bad things in order to make you feel better about your own life. But this is mostly negatives, and this will only hurt you.
Smile all the time – Simple as that
Look for the opportunity in every problem – Focusing on solutions and not problems lets you focus your mind on the positives and not the negatives. That’s the whole game!
Be a little full of yourself – Most people do way too much negatives self-talking which ruins confidence and destroys emotions. You need to be a little full of yourself and build that ego! Big ego = big confidence. Just make sure you don’t make decisions based on ego alone in every situation. You’ll come to find the line in the sand.
Make a list of things that make you feel good. Think hard! Cross out everything that could hurt someone else, you know who you are, ya crazies! Now you know exactly what to do to make yourself happier every damn day! π
The second part is to add a bunch of enthusiasm to your life and every interaction! Force enthusiasm! That’s actually the key to this whole operation…FORCE feelings if you have to. This is the part where most people fail because it can be really difficult to force positive feelings when your emotions are heading straight down, and nobody is perfect at this. But the more effort you put in, the more success you’ll have.
Surround yourself with only positive information coming in and cut out everything that is negative. Like, as much as you possibly can! The goal is to only intake positive information that makes you better. If you can change your attitude and be happier more often, you will see a huge impact in EVRY aspect of your life!
Happy hump day,
Jake
