Can Outshining The Master Get You Killed?

Rule #1: Be amazing at what you do.

Rule #2: Don’t be better than your master…EVER!

This is straight out of the world famous book by Robert Greene, 48 Laws of Power. I will probably even cover many more “laws” from the book (which is amazing), but it only makes sense to start at number one.

Do Great, Just Not Too Great…

Imagine you find a king fu master, and they take you under their wing and teach you about king fu…

You start getting really good…winning tournaments, making your master look good for training such a badass, and maybe bringing exposure to his totally legit underground ninja school under the FDA approved hibachi restaurant.

But one day you wake up and realize that you just may be ever better than the old man (who smells like whiskey and winning) who trained you!

You start to get an attitude, and become more confident. The students at this school want to learn from YOU instead of Master Sinbad.

How does that saying go… “The student has become the master.”

The Shift In Power…Maybe

Now that you’re this big shot around the dojo, you start thinking of how you can push old man perrywinkle out so you can take over.

After all, you’re now the baddest Kung fu-er around, not the master. You have all the power…right?

Sure, if faire princesses were real and candy didn’t make you fat! Unfortunately those things aren’t true, and you would be wrong in this case too.

You see, your master saw this coming year before you did (uh he’s the freaking master, idiot) and he has already planned YOUR exit in the most stylish fashion…

Back in the old days, your exit would be murder or a lifetime in the dungeon while they boys in Block 9 change your name to Maid Marian.

You don’t win this battle, you don’t get rich, but you may actually die trying.

What’s The Point?

I definitely dragged this out much longer than it had to be drug out. The headline tells the entire story, but here’s why you learned…

Do great, but not too great.

Plan your takeover looong before you actually put that plan into action.

Make sure your maniacal master knows that you “feel less than him”.

And finally, strike fast if you intend to make your move to the top!
