How to Cold Prospect on Social Media, Without Pissing People Off

Have you experienced this?

Have you ever been messaged on social media by someone you didn’t know who seemed like they just wanted to get to know you?

But then after you been chatting for a bit, they start leading you down the road of a sales pitch…

You can see it coming, and you start to get angry as you realize that they DON’T really care about you, they just wanted to gain some rapport so they have a better chance at getting you to agree to whatever they’re selling!

Even though I can’t imagine this type of deception ever working, this type of manipulation is “attempted” every single day on the internet.

You yourself might even be at a point where you just start off the conversation by asking what they’re pitching so you don’t waste time!

Let me tell you, there is a better way! Here’s one option…

The Cold Message

Rather than wasting someone’s time (people hate to waste time more than anything else) and being deceptive, you should be upfront and honest about your intentions.

Crazy theory, I know…

Just give your pitch right off the bat in a low-pressure way, and don’t forget to handle the most common objections in your pitch! It could look something like this…

“Hey John! You definitely don’t know me, and probably weren’t actively looking for what I’m about to show you, but my company has an online training program that helps all types of businesses increase sales 30% in less than 90 days!

I know you don’t have any information on this yet and don’t even know if I’m legit or not. But if I was legit, or could only do 1/2 of what I’ve promised, would you be open to seeing more information on why/how this works? :)”

That’s a better way to handle the opening than dragging a fake conversation out for a few messages, and starting the relationship with deception, would you agree?

There is no sure-fire way to get people to say yes, but people only buy from people they trust, and it’s tough to build trust when you start with deception.

Now with that said, there’s actually an even better way to build long-term relationships with people who will actually want to help you find customers for your business. How nice would that be?!

That’s a master-level salesman technique, but I’ve run out of writing space to include that here. 😉

For now, start being upfront and honest and you will at least be able to build a relationship if you get rejected, and potentially get some referrals!
